This authentic hand-painted papyrus portrays Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of death, embalming, and the protector of the afterlife. Depicted with the head of a jackal and the body of a man, Anubis symbolizes protection, purification, and the guidance of souls on their spiritual journey.
In Egyptian mythology, Anubis presided over the Weighing of the Heart, a ceremony in which the heart of the deceased was measured against the feather of Ma’at to determine if the soul was worthy of eternal life. His presence in art embodies justice, transformation, and divine protection.
Papyrus, created by the Egyptians from the Cyperus papyrus plant of the Nile, is the world’s first form of paper. Today, artisans preserve this ancient tradition, handcrafting and hand-painting each piece. Every papyrus includes a certificate of authenticity.
